MAN Diesel & Turbo has been ordered to deliver two 18V32/40 engines to drive a captive power plant at the Al-Watania Poultry chicken farm in Saudi Arabia. Engines will have a special design which will adapt as much as it can to the environment. The engines will run on crude oil as a main fuel and use Diesel Oil during startup. Alfred Kuhse controller from Germany is specialized in the control of technology and solutions, and has found excellent equipment for the engines. Located in the north of Saudi Arabia, in the Qassim district, not far off the capital Riad, Al Watania Poultry is the biggest chicken farm in the MENA region. It produces 575.000 chickens and one million table eggs per day. Sufficient electrical power is provided by 14 power plants with a combined capacity of 95.7 MW. The new MAN engines are part of the company’s plans to more than double the overall installed power generation capacity on site within the next five years.
