The overall economic and political situation in the former Yugoslavia and Croatia has always been extremely important and influential in the development of the factory. It is known that at the beginning of that period of the factory's development, the economic and political crisis in Yugoslavia and its republics was more and more pronounced.
All the factory's management, from its founding in 1949 until 1990, sought to overcome the effects of the economic and political crisis by constantly expanding production, market and strengthening the economic responsibility of individual productions.
The development of the factory in that period was especially marked by:
- organizational adjustments based on the Constitution and the Law.
- concentration of Karlovac metal industry companies around Yugoturbina.
- department of production parts outside Karlovac.
- further technological development.
"The construction of the first ship turbine with a capacity of 420 horsepower will soon be completed at the "Edvard Kardelj" factory in Karlovac.
Soon it will begin a production of 250-kilowatt backpressure turbines, which are now under design."
("Vjesnik", September 6, 1952)
Period 1963-1973 can be marked as a period of stabilization for production of basic products, and increased production for the domestic market and exports. Employee turnover has calmed, and the number of highly skilled technical but also economic-financial and legal staff is increasing.
The management of the factory has been stabilized as well as the managing people in turbines, engines and pumps. New machine tools are purchased. Turbine, engine and pump test stations are completed. Mechanographic processing of all data is introduced - ARITMA.
Yugoturbina, company for the production of steam and gas turbines, diesel engines and energy equipment, was founded on the initiative of the military authorities in 1949.
Education as one of the most important determinants of factory survival was considered incomplete, with an insufficient number and uncoordinated structure of employees. For example - at the time of the financial crisis, the factory employed 35 graduate mechanical engineers (still insufficient for production), with two graduate economists and one lawyer.
Due to the need for workers of all professions, a comprehensive program of support for employee education has been defined.
With financial, personnel, and moral support, Yugoturbina in Karlovac was the leader in the development of all forms of education at a higher level.
Yugoturbina factory was founded with FNRJ government's decision year 07. 24. 1949. under the name "Edvard Kardelj" and was registrated at financial administration JNA in register military commercial enterprises in Beograd.
By decision of the Federal Executive Council 02. 06. 1954. the factory was separated from companies that produce for specific JNA needs.
By the decision of the People's Committee of Karlovac year 03. 31. 1954. the decision of the Workers' Council was accepted on factory name change from "Edvard Kardelj" to "Yugoturbina" - turbine and machine factory Karlovac.
The name of the factory was changed again by the decision of the Workers' Council year 05. 23. 1969. and the full name of the factory was "Yugoturbina" - factory of steam turbines, diesel engines and pumps Karlovac
