Polaris Shipping Co. ordered 3 carriers

Polaris Shipping Co. has ordered 3 heavy carriers. The 325,000-ton iron ore carriers will replace aged ships, especially following the recent sinking of the VLOC-Stellar Daisy. Corpus welcomes (VLCC) Anne

Diana Shipping adds Kamsarmax

The Greek company Diana Shipping has added Kamsarmax to its fleet. The Astarte, previously known as Seatrust, was bought for USD 22.6 million. It was constructed in 2013 by the South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME). The company expects to take delivery of one Post-Panamax bulker by the end of May 2017.

Explosion in Cartagena - 6 die

Six people died in an explosion at the Cotecmar shipyard in Cartagena and at least 20 people were injured. The explosion occurred on Wednesday, May 17. Three explosions were reported some 15 kilometers from the city and took place while the workers were painting a tanker vessel.
